On Wednesday, October 30, SIATech Indio hosted a Family Night where students, prospective students, and their families gathered for food, refreshments, community resources, games, prizes and to gain more information on how the site operates.
Community Schools Engagement Coordinator, Jose Martinez invited the College of the Desert, Center of Employment Training , EQUUS, Migrant Program, and Desert Best Friend’s Closet to attend the event. Community partners were able to connect with our families and had the opportunity to share about their programs and services.
Wellness Coordinator, Maricella Evangelista hosted a workshop entitled "Know the Signs" where she gave valuable information on spotting the signs of self-harm. The event concluded by all attendees having dinner with one another.
Overall, the night was a complete success as the Indio site staff created relationships with current students and build connections with prospective ones.
Thank you to Jose and the Indio site for coordinating the event and working to meet the needs of current and prospective students!
