SIATech High Schools are excited to welcome Maricella Evangelista as its new Student Wellness Coordinator. In this role, Ms. Evangelista will promote and enhance the overall mental health mission by providing services that strengthen home, school, and community partnerships, and address barriers to learning and achievement. Congratulations to Dr. Jake Gordon who is the new Executive Director of Schools effective May 1, 2024. Dr. Gordon brings a wealth of experience to his new role where he has been a principal for 13 years across different SIATech sites, and Dr. Gordon was a SIATech teacher for three years. SIATech welcomes Dr. Delia Castillo as its new Assistant Superintendent Administrative Services. In this role Dr. Castillo will provide administrative oversight to our school sites, and supervise the communications and data services teams, among other responsibilities. Dr. Castillo has served in the field of education for almost 25 years. She started as the band and See The Story
SIATech schools has three primary goals as part of its Local Control and Accountability Plan, otherwise known as the LCAP. These goals include providing high-quality equitable instruction, delivering its CTE program (Career Technical Education), and serving as a trauma-informed system with teachers and leaders skilled at meeting the social and emotional needs of all students. This is a mandated reminder of the California law regarding safe storage of firearms. The purpose of this memorandum is to inform and to remind parents and legal guardians of all students at SIATech, of their responsibilities for keeping firearms out of the hands of children as required by California law. Dr. Mims brings more than 25 years of experience in public education and business management to the organization. by Mark Kiker We are encouraged to turn off the lights when we go home for the night to save electricity…but that does not work well for our computers. SIATech IT makes automated remote changes to student machines for updating software, pushing out fixes and installing new tools. It is imperative that all sites leave See The Story

SIATech California staff gathered in Oceanside last month to create a strong start to the school year. The event was organized by SIATech’s Instructional Services team. The keynote was given by Dr. Amy Lansing of UCSD who focuses on trauma-informed systems. Staff members then went to breakout sessions that addressed their subject content areas, administrative and compliance reminders, advances in career pathways, honoring diversity, building your brand, and much more.
Welcome to September, Everyone! I hope the summer was relatively restful and you are ready for the 2019-20 School Year. The Learning Summit, August 21-23, was a fantastic event!
