SIATech’s network of public California high schools graduated more than 375 young people in 2023-2024. This number continues to climb as students complete the coursework and credits each student needs in order to graduate with a WASC-accredited diploma. Congratulations to Dr. Jake Gordon who is the new Executive Director of Schools effective May 1, 2024. Dr. Gordon brings a wealth of experience to his new role where he has been a principal for 13 years across different SIATech sites, and Dr. Gordon was a SIATech teacher for three years. SIATech South Bay Independent Study High School (SBIS), located in Chula Vista, has been proactive in making connections with various local theaters such as The Old Globe, Cygnet Theatre, Diversionary Theatre, San Diego Latino Film Festival, and the San Diego Opera House. On Thursday April 25th, SIATech North County (NCIS) in Oceanside welcomed guest speaker Chef Oscar from the California Culinary Arts Institute (CCAI) which is located in San Diego. SIATech welcomes Dr. Delia Castillo as its new Assistant Superintendent Administrative Services. In this role Dr. Castillo will provide administrative oversight to our school sites, and supervise the communications and data services teams, among other responsibilities. On Tuesday March 26, 2024, a total of 65 SIATech students were hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College for a day of empowerment and career exploration. SIATech schools has three primary goals as part of its Local Control and Accountability Plan, otherwise known as the LCAP. These goals include providing high-quality equitable instruction, delivering its CTE program (Career Technical Education), and serving as a trauma-informed system with teachers and leaders skilled at meeting the social and emotional needs of all students.
