SIATech South Bay bid farewell to October and welcomed autumn with a slew of activities during their Spirit Week. Each day of Spirit Week had a fun theme. The SIATech North County Staff, joined by a representative from their San Diego County teammates at South Bay, gathered for an “Open House for Educators” hosted by the Timken Museum of Art in Balboa Park on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. On Thursday, October 24th, SIATech South Bay Mentor Teachers Ms. Ramirez and Ms. Lewis attended a career fair at the Double Tree in Mission Valley. There they shared information about SIATech’s innovative education programs for students that are available at the South Bay, North County, and San Diego sites. SIATech’s network of public California high schools graduated more than 375 young people in 2023-2024. This number continues to climb as students complete the coursework and credits each student needs in order to graduate with a WASC-accredited diploma. As of today, June 6, 2024, the number of SIATech graduates in 2023-24 is 382! This is See The Story
SIATech South Bay Independent Study High School (SBIS), located in Chula Vista, has been proactive in making connections with various local theaters such as The Old Globe, Cygnet Theatre, Diversionary Theatre, San Diego Latino Film Festival, and the San Diego Opera House. On Tuesday March 26, 2024, a total of 65 SIATech students were hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College for a day of empowerment and career exploration. After graduating from the Chula Vista campus SIATech South Bay High School in 2022-2023, SIATech Alumnus Grant Goodale enlisted in the US Space Force and he recently finished basic training. SIATech high schools and central office will be closed in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday. Our campuses and offices will be closed from November 20, 2023 – November 24, 2023, reopening on Monday, November 27, 2023. We wish everyone a wonderful holiday break!
Students from SIATech South Bay High School in Chula Vista were able to take an excursion to the Center for Employment Training (CET). There they received information and training sessions on various types of career choices. According to CET’s website they are dedicated “to help those who want a better life get the skills needed for meaningful work.”
