Dr. Delia Castillo Named SIATech’s Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services

Delia Castillo is SIATech High School Assistant Superintendent Administrative ServicesSIATech welcomes Dr. Delia Castillo as its new Assistant Superintendent Administrative Services.

In this role Dr. Castillo will provide administrative oversight to our school sites, and supervise the communications and data services teams, among other responsibilities.

Dr. Castillo has served in the field of education for almost 25 years. She started as the band and orchestra director at the same middle school she attended as child growing up in southeast Los Angeles area.

Prior to joining SIATech, Dr. Castillo worked with the LA County Office of Education as a charter school oversight administrator. One unique experience was serving in the oversight of the COVID-19 medical testing and distributing PPE for all the schools and districts in the county.

Dr. Castillo has also worked at LA Unified in the charter school division where she oversaw the charter schools authorized by LA Unified. Through that experience she grew very comfortable working with charter leaders and operators and developers, as well as community leaders. One thing that intrigued her about charter school law was the autonomy and flexibility in the pursuit of serving at-promise students. Dr. Castillo says she saw herself as not only monitoring, but also supporting the charter schools in their missions of serving students and families.

Dr. Castillo joins SIATech with a wealth of education. She has a Doctorate in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University, a Masters in Educational Administration and School Leadership from California State University Northridge, a Masters in Educational Technology from Long Beach State, and a Bachelor's in Instrumental Music from Long Beach State.

As she joins SIATech, Dr. Castillo looks forward to being able to contribute to high quality programs for at-promise students and their families. She likes that SIATech's independent study program and Job Corps classroom-based program provides alternative settings for students and families who are looking for a unique learning environment.
