El Centro Students Visit San Diego State University Imperial Valley and Imperial Valley College

For the first time since its opening in 2009, ECIS students were given the opportunity to visit and tour local colleges.

DSC09177-scaledCommunity Schools Coordinator, Jose Martinez connected with local colleges, San Diego State University Imperial Valley (SDSU IV) and Imperial Valley College (IVC) and with the support of Mentor Teacher, Alicia Raya, Mentor Teacher, Evelia Sandoval and Instructional Technical Assistant Halina Santoyo provided this wonderful opportunity for our students.

Students began their day at SDSU IV Campus, where they received a guided tour by SDSU IV students. The group visited and explored each corner of the campus: the auditorium, the art gallery room, different classrooms, the library, and the pantry room. The tour lasted one hour and half, and our students also were able to win some prices by answering some questions about the campus.

SDSU IV offers a variety of courses such as Criminal Justice, English, History, Liberal Studies, Mathematics, Nursing, Psychology, Public Administration, Public Health, Social Science, and Spanish. They also offer a Master’s Degrees in Homeland Security, Social Work, Nursing Leadership, and Teaching Credentials.

After visiting SDSU IV students and staff drove to IVC. There, Jose Martinez gave students a tour of the campus, and partner and Financial Aid Advisor Alma Orozco, gave students a presentation on FAFSA.

Our students had an amazing experience at SDSU IV Campus and at IVC.
