On Monday, December 2, SIATech Student Wellness Coordinator, Maricella Evangelista visited NCIS. She provided training for their entire staff on Youth Mental Health First Aid training following the National Council for Mental Wellbeing model.
Maricella stayed at NCIS for the duration of the workday and even provided breakfast and lunch for the NCIS team, as well as all books and materials for course success.
"She was extraordinarily well prepared and knew the content well. Transitions were smooth between intervals of explanation, demonstration, and practice," said NCIS Principal Craig Lewis.
Maricella maintained high levels of engagement, while working with staff members through partner and full group dialogue, including acting out roles within a variety of Mental Health First Aid scenarios.
"We are grateful for her and the entire Wellness team supporting her success and ours. As the saying goes, 'Everything was going swell, and then I broke my SEL.' Luckily trained Mental Health First Aiders were on the case," said Craig.
It sounds like the NCIS team had an engaging and informative day.
