SIATech Indio Joins EQUUS for Job Fair and Friendsgiving Celebration

On Thursday, November 21 CTE teacher  Christopher Bayron and Mentor Teacher, Veronica Soto joined students on a walking field trip to their partners at EQUUS Friendsgiving and Job Fair.

Students were able to meet with many community employers and resources, including representatives from the largest employer in the Coachella Valley, Agua Caliente. Other resources include Riverside County WorkForce, EQUUS, Center for Employment Training (CET), U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Altura Credit Union and many more.

After the job fair portion, the Indio site community joined EQUUS partners for their friendsgiving event. During that time Mr. Bayron was able to have engaging conversations with students about their experience at the job fair, what interested them and what their college and career path might be.

Mr. Bayron also met with community partners and made connections with individuals that would be willing to visit Indio and give the students a presentation on their programs.

After the meal, SIATech staff, students, EQUUS partners, and others played games that involved working as teams to further enrich their relationships. These games also helped students' collaboration and communication skills.
