During the tour, students explored the culinary arts program, visited the library, walked through the athletics area, and checked out the flight tech department. At the culinary arts area, students were pleasantly surprised to reconnect with a former SIATech student and graduate, who is now enrolled in the college's culinary program.
Ken, who gave a presentation in the flight tech hangar, emphasized the growing demand for professionals in the field, especially air traffic controllers and airplane mechanics. He shared that employers are actively recruiting more women for these roles.
After the trip, students reflected on how the experience opened their eyes to new possibilities for their futures. One student, Miguel, enthusiastically said, “I think I want to attend college now! I didn’t see the point before, but now I see that you can make good money by completing a program here.”
IEJC looks forward to organizing more college field trips to help students explore the diverse opportunities available to them after high school.
