South Bay Welcomes New Year with Fun Festivities

On Thursday, January 16, SIATech South Bay officially welcomed the new year with a pancake breakfast. Students helped themselves to fluffy, buttery pancakes with syrup and whipped cream, crispy bacon, and delicious fruit.

"Breaking bread is always a beautiful way to start the day with our students while enjoying a meal together along with friendly conversation," said South Bay Mentor Teacher, Ms. Ramirez.

2As is tradition now, firefighter Chad Arberg then gave an amazing presentation to students that sheds light on the diverse field that is firefighting and spoke about what they do for our communities. A favorite part of the presentation was when K9 firefighter Cory, came into the building to showcase his talents. This time around, he brought a dog that perfectly climbed a ladder to safety.

Finally, Stephen Salts, Director of Learning and Youth Programs for the San Diego Symphony invited South Bay to experience a rehearsal. Students enjoyed Busoni's Violin Concerto in the beautifully renovated Jacobs Music Center. It was an unforgettable experience!
