We are eager to announce that our next staff spotlight is for SIATech at Sacramento Job Corps Social Studies Teacher Ms. Wiesner!

“Join us in celebrating the remarkable career of our beloved colleague! With unwavering patience, loyalty, and kindness, she has touched our hearts daily, embodying these values effortlessly,” said Sacramento Job Corps Principal Terena Small.

Ms. Wiesner has been with SIATech for 18 years, beginning her journey back in 2006. “Besides teaching, my focus is building relationships with students. Connecting is essential and my passion. I work with a great and unique staff both here on site and across California.”

Ms. Wiesner’s initial career choice was one in Anthropology, Environmental Education and Interpretation, and while she worked in this field for some time, another career was drawing her in.

“My initial pursuit was to complete the multiple subject credential, but switched as I began my student teaching. I remember walking across the college hallway to the secondary credential department. The staff looked at me rather puzzled when I confessed that high school was where I ought to be. So, I essentially started over. This was the best decision ever,” said Ms. Wiesner.

As mentioned before, this will be Ms. Wiesner’s last year with SIATech. When she is not teaching and building connections with students she is going on the most amazing adventures which she will continue to do in her retirement. “The plans are to travel and finish up visiting each National Park. I’m getting close. First stop after retiring is Alaska for bears and glacial hiking.”

When asked to share what she loves about SIATech she stated, “This will always be the diversity of students I’ve had the privilege to work with; to know as individuals. I feel fortunate that I’ve been able to be a part of SIATech for so long!”

For the past 18 years Ms. Wiesner has passionately served our school. On behalf of the entire school community we would like to express our gratitude for you and your service!

As shared by Terena Small, “Her spirit is as bold as her adventures, from scaling cliffs to wading through alligator-infested waters on her daring vacations. Here’s to a retirement filled with well-deserved relaxation and new thrilling escapades!”

Thank you Ms. Wiesner, we wish you nothing but the best!
