Please help us in giving a warm welcome to Ms. Chenu, SIATech’s new Instructional Learning Specialist, Numeracy. In her new role Chenu will work to support educational initiatives aimed at improving student achievement. A few other responsibilities she will have are to collaborate with teachers to design and adapt curriculum materials, curate a repository of instructional resources, and analyze student performance data to inform instructional planning and differentiated learning.

“My goal is to positively impact teachers and students by providing support and guidance in developing effective lesson plans and teaching strategies,” said Chenu.

Chenu shared that she has been in the education workforce for twenty years. She has held several roles, including Math Specialist, School Coordinator, Targeted Student Population Coordinator, Instructional Coach, and Gifted Teacher. “With a focus on instructional leadership, coaching, improvement science and curriculum development, I specialize in inclusive teaching practices, restorative justice and culturally and linguistically responsive instruction,” said Chenu.

Chen shared she has three children with her husband, Eduardo, as well as a rescue dog who is a tripod! A fun fact about Chenu is that she learned to fly a plane before she learned how to drive a car. During her free time Chenu said she enjoys “reading almost anything, but especially science fiction and fantasy novels. I also love to travel and spend a lot of time with my family and friends in South America, Spain, Florida and here at home in California.”

Chenu earned her B.A., M.A. in Computer Education and Technology Leadership, M.Ed in Educational and Leadership, Bilingual Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, as well as a K-12 Administrative Services Credential.

“I want to create a collaborative environment where educators can refine their practices, analyze student data, and participate in engaging professional development sessions. My ultimate objective is to build strong relationships with teachers, inspire collective growth, and enhance student achievement in a supportive and collaborative environment,” said Chenu.

Welcome to the team Katie, we look forward to collaborating with you!
