On Thursday, May 9th students at SIATech El Centro Independent Study High School (ECIS) were given the opportunity to attend a college workshop held on the SIATech El Centro school site.
Community Schools Engagement Coordinator, Jose Martinez collaborated with Imperial Valley College to assist students through the college enrollment process.
A total of five Imperial Valley College staff members were present for this workshop. Two Outreach Specialists supported students with filling out applications and scheduling orientation. The two counselors worked one on one with each student and assisted them with any questions they may have. A Financial Aid Specialist aided students with FAFSA information.
It can be extremely difficult to navigate the college realm, that is why these collaboration efforts are so beneficial to our students. Having skilled individuals to help walk students through the process and answer any questions truly makes all of the difference.
