SIATech San Diego High School Graduate Francisco Sanchez was sworn in as a board member of the SIATech Board of Directors on Friday, March 1, 2019. Mr. Sanchez is the first SIATech alumnus to serve on the school's board of directors.
After a tumultuous childhood where he was in and out of various schools and court schools, Mr. Sanchez found his place academically in the SIATech high school operating at the San Diego Job Corps Center. He credits caring teachers for helping him find that he could use his natural leadership skills and charismatic personality in a positive way.
Mr. Sanchez mentioned that in several ways SIATech is very different from previous schools he attended.
"At my other schools, the teachers only cared about the really smart kids and struggling kids were ignored. But at SIATech, they give all the attention to the students who are struggling. I always felt like someone was there to give me help and make sure that I succeeded."
SIATech welcomes Mr. Sanchez to its governance board to provide perspectives from the local business community and as a previous student. Mr. Sanchez graduated from SIATech San Diego in 2010. Mr. Sanchez is married with two children, and he currently works as the Finance Manager for the Escondido Auto Super Center.
