I hope you are all enjoying this cooler weather as we hurdle toward the holidays and the end of 2019. September was a site visit month. The best part of the job, hands down! It is so wonderful to meet staff and students.
We were able to visit both the SIATech South Sacramento and Sacramento Job Corps campuses with board members Cisco Sanchez and Mike Fickel. We had a wonderful ambassador, Michael, who gave us a campus tour at the Sacramento Job Corps center. Afterwards we visited SIATech South Sacramento, which looks great, and they are building enrollment all the time. Students seem happy and very hopeful about their futures. We met with staff of both campuses and heard their suggestions regarding program enhancements. All in all a great trip!
Board Member, Cisco Sanchez, and I met in San Jose to participate in the Opportunity Youth Partnership meeting on September 25th. Prior to the community meeting, we were able to meet with some of the staff and students at the San Jose Job Corps center. It was fantastic to see all the optimism as the school kicks off the 2019-2020 school year!
The Five Choices for Extraordinary Productivity was held at the Oceanside offices on October 2nd. Staff learned the importance of striving for extraordinary results in both your work lives and personally. Nine central office staff took part in this meaningful one-day training.
Halloween will be here before you know it, closely followed by Thanksgiving and the Holidays. It is a perfect time of the year to reflect on the blessings we have and the lives we are changing for the better. Congratulations to all staff on a fabulous start to the new school year!
